I Think My Brain Is Full.
Seven weeks of studying is too damn much. It's been hard to talk to anyone, let alone to blog. You can only tell your friends and family about how you got nailed by an essay about the destructability of contingent remainders doctrine so many times before they stop calling. You certainly can't subject strangers on the internet with it (whoopsie!). Even The Boy and I are struggling -- "Hey, can you believe #16?" "No." "Yeah, me neither." "..."
So. Instead of writing about what's going on in my life (NOTHING), I've got some questions for you:
1. Scrapbooking? Yea or nay? I watched on old Martha episode tonight with Keri Russell (unbelievably cute pregnant!), with scrapbooking as a theme. I actually had a scrapbook in college, before scrapbooking got crazy and complicated and EXPENSIVE and am considering whether to try again with our vacation photos, but don't want it to be too cheesy. Are there products that aren't too frou-frou? Or is this a doomed enterprise?
2. Somehow, at the age of 30, I have still not learned to shave my legs properly. There is ALWAYS a patch somewhere, usually somewhere prominent, that I have missed. What is wrong with me?
3. OK, this is actually about my life. I bought a new bag for vacation, because my other bag, the Hayden-Harnett Ibiza Convertible Flight Tote in black, which, I LOVE!!, seems inappropriate because it has a bunch of gold things on it. And I kind of think that when hanging out in the Amazon, it's a little weird if one is carrying a bag ornamented by gold, right? So I got this one in marine. Cute, no? That is my question: cute, no?
4. Is it appropriate to go down to get your mail in your pajamas? Normally I can summon the energy to throw on a bra and some jeans (actually, I can only study when I have a bra on, weird), but sometimes I have a 2-minute debate with myself over whether it's necessary. Thoughts?
5. Do you say "shut to?" Or just "to" in reference to doors? I told The Boy the other day to leave the door "to" and he looked at me like I was crazy. Is this just a southern thing (I am not southern exactly, but my parent are, y'all)?
6. Is not John Legend so freaking FINE? I have been listening to his album "Once Again" as my running album (I run REAL SLOW during some of the songs) and if I could just put him in my pocket and take him home...
7. Seven was going to be the end of it, being July, seven weeks into studying and all, but I can't come up with #7. Perhaps you have some questions for me? We can trade! Also, it will give me something to write about next time, so I would be much obliged.

Comments
1. I have been told that Costco has some inexpensive paper. At least I think that's where the art teacher got the really pretty paper she had.
2. I think it's an aging thing. The older I get, the more likely I will miss a patch.
3. Way cute.
4. I think it is but I'm known for doing inappropriate things.
5. Not sure.
6. He is way cute.
7. I'd ask a question but my brain has turned to mush due to inactivity.

one of my friends has all these rules and she would be HORRIFIED if you went for your post in your pjs! In her world answering the door in pjs is the ultimate no-no. I always take much joy in telling her how I answer the door in much less, just to see the look on her face, chuckle!
Ok so I have a question: what kind of lawyer are you going to be? I would have to be a criminal lawyer, cos they're always the coolest in the books and films!

that bag is super cute! i go outside to take the recycling out in my pajamas, and i've onl gotten caught a few times. the mail comes after 2, so i feel like too many cars could come by if i'm not dressed by then.

The bag is WAY cute and it is totally acceptable to get the mail in your PJs, unless your mail is like 2 miles away and Out in Public. Lobby of your building? Not Out in Public. And we just say "shut" with respect to doors around here, so I think both "shut to" and "to" are southern things.

1. i think it is possible to do it in a "cool" way. but it is definitely a fine fine line.
2. better a missed patch than say a bloody gouge!
3. Cute = yes. As cute as the one you're NOT bringing = not quite. Damn, now I NEEEED that bag!!!!
4. Totally. I go down to the laundry room in them as well. I just think of my apartment as a "dorm" and then it's all good.
5. Where was the boy brought up, in a barn? Did someone forget to leave the barn door to? :) ha ha ha ha ha. To my mind, I would call it a Midwestern thing. But maybe it comes from my relatives in extreme Southern Illinois (the wee bottom that's actually south of St. Louis)? Because my grandma definitely put a southern swing into "how you doing, honey pie?" so maybe...
6. I like Common better actually. :)
7. When do you move? When are you coming to Chicago? and How's Penny? :)

oh and p.s. 7 when is your next mix disc coming out????????????????????????

My niece in college does some amazing things with scrapbooks. I just tape stuff in my personal phone book.
It works for me.

Shut to? What does that mean? I would say, "Leave the door shut." I must side with the Boy on this one.
I agree that the bag is cute and that getting the mail in your pjs is ok (unless you have to go to the actual post office).
Questions... Would you go/ have you gone to a high school reunion and why or why not?
Posted by: -R- at July 11, 2007 09:30 AM
1. Yes, scrapbooking can be cool and not too frou-frou, but everyone has a bad day when they scrapbook, and it is hard to do if you are a perfectionist...I speak from experience here.
2. I wax, and have the same problem.
3. hmmm...not as cute as the one you already have...
4. I get my mail in my pajamas and I have to go all the way out to my sweet little manicured lawned suburban street...if you are in an apartment corridor or on the street picking up your mail - no bra, if you are in some kind of common area (like the office of an apartment building), put on a bra.
5. I live in the south and I have never heard "shut to" or "to" in reference to a door...
6. Totally fine, and have you seen the youtube video of him getting "excited" while grinding with some girl...haha...named Jennifer, while singing the song of the same name? Good stuff!!!
7. Why do they have to pack forty-nine million people into one area to take the bar exam only twice a year? Why can't they offer it in a computerized setting and let you do it whenever you want?
Posted by: Brooke at July 11, 2007 10:26 AM
Oh and by Good Stuff!!! I did not mean that I particularly enjoyed on some sexual level, but it was hysterical!
Posted by: Brooke at July 11, 2007 10:29 AM
#4: getting the mail in your pajamas... I'm weird, but I think it's OK to get the newspaper in PJs if it's before 9 AM weekdays or before 11 AM weekends. After that, I think my neighbors expect to see clothing. So on extremely lazy days, I'll wait until after dark to run to the mailbox in my PJs.
I told you I was weird. :-)

1. Nay. Just throw all that stuff in a box to go through when you're mad at the Boy or the Bar or your family.
2. I've mostly overcome this problem, by paying careful attention to the problem areas (near the ankles and knees). I also run my fingers over my legs afterwards to check the other areas (before I'm out of the shower).
3. I'm nervous about you taking anything nice or new to the Amazon. It's very dirty and sweaty. I don't think you have to worry about theft (as long as your guide is okay). Be sure you have lightweight pants and long sleeve shirt to ward off mosquitos. (I used a button down over a tank top, which worked very well.) The bag is cute, tho. And maybe it will be fine for your plans.
4. Yes, it's appropriate.
5. Never heard of shut to.
6. He's alright. But he's no Michael Vartan or Owen Wilson.
7. Have you been to Porcao in Rio? (Did we already have this discussion?) It's a must.
Posted by: Ursula at July 11, 2007 01:33 PM
1. Nay...knitting is enough for me!
2. I wear pants, and the hair on my legs is much too fine to risk injury.
3. I have no interest in visiting the Amazon. They don't have room service.
4. Yes...as long as you don't sleep in the nude...and as long as you wear a robe.
5. I say "shut the door."
6. Yes. He is so clean and tidy.
7. Why did you decide on Law School?

#1. Scrapbooking - I loved your comment "before scrapbooking got crazy and complicated and EXPENSIVE" - SO TRUE!! Some of the things I've seen in craft stores and even Target are cute but couldn't really see myself paying that kind of $$. I like it when people do scrapbooks of just your regular run of the mill items found in mags and ticket stubs, receipts, guides...I think it has much more character. But hey that's me.
#2. I'm 30 as well and I can't seem to get this one.
#3. The bag seems...functional.
#4. I think it's ok once in a while...but not everydat!
#5. I say "shut the damn door!!" People usually catch my drift.
#6. Is cute, but never really listened to his stuff. Maybe I will now!
#7. Ok...here are some questions:
What are you wearing?
What is your favorite kind of make up?
How many keys do you have on your keyring?
What kind of car do you drive?
Do you know why AKON is so popular?
Favroite reality show
What kind of lawyer are you going to be?
Good luck with the studying!!!

1. I think scrapbooking can be cool if you don't do too much of that readymade sticker stuff. It gets to literal. Like, you have photos of your summer vacation- do you need 3-D stickers of flipflops and sunglasses? Like interior design, once it gets too theme-y, you've crossed the line.
2. Totally feel you. I'm the same.
3. Cute, yes!
4. Don't leave the house in pajamas. Sweats, yes. T-shirt, of course. But full on pjs? I can't get behind this.
5. I don't even understand what you're talking about here, so this must be a regionalism. Or, I'm clueless. One of those.
6. Totally hot.
7. here's a question for you. Tell us about your first kiss. How old were you? What were the circumstances? Dish all.
Posted by: Librarian Girl at July 11, 2007 06:56 PM
1. Enh. It seems like a lot of work without a lot of your own creativity (unless you actually design your own paper/sticker patterns, which seems like a LOT a lot of work).
2. Me too. Every time.
3. Cute! Both of them!
4. I walk Paddington in my pajamas all the time, so obviously I think getting the mail is okay.
5. Huh??
6. He is cute, but I've never actually heard his music. I'll check it out.
7. When are we getting drinks? I need to see you before I move! Hopefully there's some time after the bar and before you go to South America, yes?
