Enh. I don't really like this whole leggings trend. But then I like Crocs, so maybe I'm not always the best judge.

fun but ugly, trust me, i was a fashion victiom in the 80's and had a ton of them. some things are NOT meant to come back again (think acid wash jeans, big hair, nylon in general)

Leggings are making a comeback? I think I looked cute in them back in the 80s. Doesn't mean I would wear them now though.

I wore leggings constantly in the 80's and early 90's. I wore them under skirts, boxer shorts, long shirts/sweaters, etc. I treated them like really thick tights. And I love me some patterned and/or solid tights.

I think that leggings should be for not-so-serious wear. They're really just frivolous and not for the office or a date.

I normally read your blog in Google Reader, but felt so strongly about this that I opened a new tab, *manually typed in your site's URL into my browser's destination bar* (a heroic feat if ever there was one) and clicked on the 'Comments' link just to tell you not to do it.

So if I am following Carolyn, then it is OK if I wear them under a dress or pants -- like I did in the 80s. But no way that I would consider wearing them anywhere serious.

Empirically ugly and universally unflattering. I usually lurk, but I care enough to tell you NOT to indulge. No formal shorts, either, and skinny jeans only with EXTREME caution.

OK. After reading over some of the above comments, I think it all boils down to what you think of your personal style. If you are conservative, then leggings are not your thing. Neither are formal shorts or skinny jeans. There are a few women who can pull off these items with success though. A very limited number if you are talking about formal shorts.

Leggings - no, please, don't do it! I, too, loved them in the 80s! But I also loved my Cyndi Lauper shaved criss cross haircut and my Flashdance sweatshirt!

Actually my favorite use of leggings in the 80s was to wear them under jeans that had become a little worn over time.

But leggings look great on good legs!!! And I'm not just playing devil's advocate for once. Mmm that made me think of avocado. Now I'm hungry.
