More Christmas Presents
Yay! Finally I feel reconnected with the world again. I have:
- Read all the blogs I love. Made sure no one got married, came out, got knocked up and such.
- Caught up on my celebrity news.
- Received some mail, including the above tin of COOKIES! I don't take the elevator in my building because 1) caught elevator distrust from Laurie whispering, "I didn't think these people look like survivors. Do you?" every time we waited one out, and 2) stairs are faster. So I didn't get the news that we had new mailboxes, which required new keys, my manager hasn't been in, etc. etc. So I have been bereft of mail for two weeks!
But now, I have COOKIES! Care of my future summer employer. And they are much welcome, but I do (of course) have complaints. Did they really NEED to include the calorie count? Where is the Christmas joy in 170 calrories per "Frosted Holiday Cut-out?" Also, they didn't just include the nutrional info for the cookies I got, but for ALL their products. So instead of enjoying my cookies, I spent a lot of time wondering what "Enrobed Chocolate Mint Shortbread" might be, and what life would be like had I received "Mini Buttercream Chocolate Chocolate Chip."
- Left my apartment for the first time in TWO WEEKS to do something other than go to class or to a final. It was just to the store to get BEER, which is also something I haven't had in TWO WEEKS, but that's something!
- I am finally finishing up the Indie Christmas Mixes I promised. I won't be able to send them out until Wednesday, after my last final, but at least there's progress!
a. CAN YOU BELIEVE Matt Damon is married? To a hott, big-boobed bartender-cum-interior designer? What is wrong with a not-so-hot, not-so-(ok who are we kidding not AT ALL)-big-boobed, really grumpy and kind of smelly law student, I ask you? There is no accounting for taste.
b. I normally love Scarlett Johansson. Thought she rocked in Manny & Lo and Lost in Translation. But, um, yikes! Read her NY Times piece on gifts. Very "let them eat cake."
And what is all this Christmas cheer the result of? Oh, the fact that in the MIDDLE of my Real Estate Finance FINAL, my computer decided to shut off. Just cuz. And continued to shut off every two minutes. So, I probably failed. And that? That calls for some beer and some bloggin'. Happy f'ing holidays to me.
And to you (minus the f'ing part)!

Wow, I totally dislike Scarlett Johannson now. Especially because the between-the-nostrils ring is the worst facial piercing ever.
That sucks about your real estate final... I hope the rest go better!! Can you talk to the professor about what happened?

May I smack Scarlett?
Congrats that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am sure everything will be ok on the real estate final.
Enjoy your beer!

That Scarlett article WAS weird... I hope she reads it herself and repents.
And sorry, I'll try harder to get knocked up, so that you can read some jucier blogstuff.

when i read about matt i knew you'd be traumatized. keep in mind, just because matt is taken and jake gyllenhaal is back on the market, you're not allowed to go after him because jake is MINE!

I really dislike Scarlett. Actually, I just think she is funny looking and I don't understand why guys think she's so hot. She's not. Individually, her features are nice, but put together, she looks funny. And hee, did you check out her ugly dress?

I am sure you did fine on your real estate final. And YAY for almost being done - it's been forever since I've seen you!

Gloria, thank you for the link. I see hours of entertainment in store for me.

Jen - I don't get what was wrong with that SJ article unless I missed something? I actually think it's pretty darn smart of a girl her age to invest in 'museum quality' jewelry if she can. And we all would love a little blue box from Tiffany's! Plus she wears jeans, didn't have furniture at home, and was eating a leftover hamburger. I think there are worse examples of Divaness out there (although, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't exactly label her 'down-to-earth').
As for Luciana - I'm sure his new wife is nice but whoa is she top heavy (and not too photogenic I might add).

Oops - she wasn't eating a 'leftover' hamburger... that would be gross.

LaD, there is nothing wrong with wanting things. However, one should be careful about the words one chooses when expressing their ideas. She sounded cheap and crass. Reading her statements made me think that she has absolutely no class whatsoever. And as my mother has often pointed out, you do not need money to have class but it's funny how those with the most money often have the least class.
Posted by: Dagny at December 11, 2005 05:03 PM
I must've read it differently. Where exactly did she sound cheap or crass? Granted, I am not a huge fan of Scarlett - she often tries to talk over people's heads and sound superior - but I still don't see what everyone is referring to in this particular article. The cashmere socks thing?
Posted by: La Dauphine at December 11, 2005 07:11 PM
Well shoot - now you have to pay to access the article. Oh well, I'll just take your word for it! :)
Posted by: La Dauphine at December 11, 2005 07:14 PM
Uhm, Jake in mine. Just sayin'.
And hang in there - the end is near. And as a former legal recruiter, I can assure that your summer job will also include lots o' beer-like beverages, in addition to free cookies. Kinda makes it worth it... I hope!
Posted by: wenders at December 11, 2005 07:39 PM
LaD, it was the section about cars and parking that did it for me. Also when she put down some of the gifts that she had received.
Posted by: Dagny at December 11, 2005 08:02 PM
I totally skipped those parts then... was there a second page? Maybe I read too fast. One should NEVER publicly (or privately for that matter) put down gifts they received... that IS crass. Oh, and that boob pic... ick!!
Posted by: la.dauphine at December 12, 2005 07:52 AM
Her boobs look like they are in pain in that Fug pic. EEEEEW.
Posted by: laurie at December 12, 2005 11:58 AM
i'm still on your mix list, n'est-ce pas? one day matt will regret his choice. i am oddly totally psyched to see the new woody allen movie with scarlett j.
Posted by: carolyn at December 12, 2005 06:17 PM
Jen, hope all is well with finals! And cookies from your summer firm? Outstanding!
Re: Matt Damon and wife, all I seem to be able to think of is "how do you like them apples?"
Posted by: ddj at December 12, 2005 07:10 PM
Beers to you! Have a great holiday!!

Jennifer-
I command you to blog, blog about FREEDOM, for the girl who is in the middle of a 24 hour final cannot comprehend such a concept. Also, you are far prettier than Matt Damon's wife- so I guess that makes you "hottt".
Posted by: Neeta at December 15, 2005 06:10 PM
That's exactly what it was that bugged me, LaD and Dagny, the complaints about presents she'd received. Of course, you'll note the irony since I complained about my Christmas cookies. But I at least acknowledged the ridiculousness of my complaints and really, they didn't mean I wasn't happy to get mine.
Posted by: jen at December 15, 2005 08:10 PM
Scarlett? She's just plain homely! She could also use a wig or something.
