My Only Salvation Is a Deathtrap, OR Signs that Final Season Draws Nigh
Hm, second blog post with "death" in the title. Excellent.
So anyhoo, the Top 5 signs:
-
You, Laurie, and Roy the Cat nearly head onto the 405 with your First Amendment Law book on top of your car. Luckily, at the metered on-ramp, the local Roto-Rooter van man informs you that $80 and four lbs of LAW are about to go flying into the SUV behind you, and you intervene. But really, didn't the SPEECH in that book just want to be FREE?
Hahaha.
Ha.
Please, what is happening to me?
- In the vet waiting room, you just HAVE to tell Laurie something hilarious Scalia just said.
- You kind of think Scalia is cute.*
- The thing you most look forward to every night is EXERCISE. On that infernal deathtrap you see above. Just because it is an escape from when bankruptcy trustees can set aside a foreclosure sale.
- You start to think about corn rows as a time-saving measure.
*p.s. You HAVE to check out this site, only for the lovely ripple effect. Also, p.s. I generally disagree with everything out of Scalia's pen and think he should have recused himself from the Cheney case.

The Italian-Americans are taking over. You might as well just acquiesce right now. Sure, the German bakers tried to keep us down in Lochner, but we're back with a vengeance.
Even though you disagree, I'm glad you recognize the Scalia opinions for their quality of entertainment. Con Law I and II were made much more enjoyable simply because of his opinions - especially the sardonic dissents.

I am impressed that your book stayed on top of your car for that long! But that might be because it is so damn heavy. Do lots of people in law school have back problems from carrying around such heavy books?
I think all your delirium is caused by not having enough alcohol in your bloodstream. Not a formal medical diagnosis, but, you know..

I think Ruth Bader Ginsberg might also think Scalia is kind of cute. 'Cause that is what we really need in this country - a good high court love affair scandal! :)

Seriously ... we drove like three miles with her book on top of the car. But ... YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE LAW. hahahahahaha
Oh, man. Cracked myself up.
The ripply Scalia freaked my shiite out.

glad to see you're getting so much studying done since you're not here for thanksgiving!

So many memories of Scalia. When I was in law school, one of the legal fraternities would plan an annual trip to the Supreme Court. Ideally you would hear something on the morning calendar so the rest of the day could be spent drinking in Georgetown. The second year we went, we had an audience with Scalia. (The year before was with Kennedy.) Actually half the group met with Scalia while the other met with Thomas. It's a good thing I was not in the Thomas group is all I have to say. Then Scalia was the commencement speaker at the law school. (His daughter was graduating from the undergrad at the same time. They had tried to get Powell, who also had a daughter graduating from undergrad, but he declined.) Bottom line -- too much Scalia in my life.

Cornrows?? You ARE cracking up!! Yes, the ripple effect was funny... but it was all a plot to take attention away from the guy's balding head.

Perhaps you and Laurie should both get cornrows? Now THAT I would love to see on a blog someday soon! ;)

Ewwww, Scalia. Also, when are you done with finals? I want to have a "second Thanksgiving" for people who didn't get to have a proper one, and you and Laurie need to be there.
