Calendar of Death

Apparently this is the point in the semester where a giant bowling ball of panic takes up permanent residence on your chest.

And where you realize that aside from class you will not be leaving your apartment for the next three weeks.

And where you start to remember how shitty this was last semester, and then you at least had a boy to make you feel human once a week, and now your only boyfriend is mortgage substitutes, and all you want to do is take a nap, or paint your nails, or write a really whiny blog entry complaining about your upcoming hell.

So that's what I'm doing. Whine.

Whine.

Whine.

And now I feel kind of better.

Better enough to get back to reading (whine).

During my short-lived attempt at law school, I also had the good fortune to own a Peugeot that had to be jumpstarted at least once a month. For those of you who do not fully understand the art of the jumpstart, one must then drive the car for at least 30 minutes -- ideally at a speed of at least 50 mph. While I waited for the tow truck, I would grab my camera and study the map plotting my route. Eventually I would just grab the camera and hop in the car when I didn't need the jumpstart. I found that driving and occasionally stopping to take photos of some historic site was throroughly relaxing. If that wasn't, then heading to the darkroom on campus to develop and to print the photos would definitely do the job.

Best of luck studying!

Aw, c'mon! This is fun time! There was something eerily satisfying about finishing huge outlines one by one, and never leaving the apartment except for maybe running downstairs to get the mail.

Granted, the climate was a little bit different where I was. It was usually snowing, I'd stocked up on food, and not leaving the apartment building for five or six days was a perfectly acceptable alternative to going outside.

I love the calendar. Good luck!

Apparently, I write like I'm still drunk. Anyway, all the guys wanted to know where you were last night. Isn't that a nice phrase, "all the guys"? Anyhow. All work, no play.. you know what they say.

:)

re: your whining.

Remove the 'h', not only does it make the plonk taste more delicious, it helps relieve the stress that is end of semester.

I just had a flashback when I saw that calendar, because I used to make the same kinds of homemade calendars when I was in grad school. And my grad school experience was no where near as intense as a law school experience.

Just remember - it will all be over soon. It will all be over soon. It will all be over soon. Etc. Etc.

In the meantime, whine away. You deserve it.
