Truce, Technology?
OK, Technology. I guess I can forgive you for the Friendster snafu. Especially since I hear I can change my settings to stalk anonymously.
And you know, you have extended the olive branch:
- Through the wonders of Google, Marnie Winston-Macauley, the author of my A Little Joy, A Little Oy desk calendar, e-mailed me to tell me she was happy I was enjoying it. She read about how Laurie gave it to me for Christmas on THIS HERE BLOG! How crazy is that?
- Somehow I think all my paranoia about my classmate discovering my inadvertent Friendster stalking was misplaced. The smirking has dissipated. Perhaps he just had gas or needed to be burped.
- And finally, it was through the magic of e-mail and voicemail that I finally received an offer to work at a firm. That's right. I am not unemployable. And the firm doesn't even suck! Maybe everyone there had a cold that day and couldn't smell the desperation. Maybe they are crazy. Maybe they meant the other Jennifer they interviewed. Who cares! They can't take it back now! I've GOT THEIR OFFER LETTER IN MY E-MAIL.
So I guess, Technology, we're even. Truce?

Yay! Finally I can post a big fat "CONGRATULATIONS" on yer blog!

Congratulations!
You know what this means, right? You're DONE! As good as graduated! There's no longer any need to put in that extra hour of studying or make that extra page in your outline. Just do well enough next summer to get invited back, and life is good.

Congrats on all. I'm still not sure which is cooler -- the author writing to you or getting an offer letter. All I know is that it all has to be going up from now on.
BTW, if the guy had gas or needed to be burped -- EWWWWW!

Haha, I have a friend who will pat herself on the chest when she needs to be burped, which is like after every meal. As she says, at least it's better than the gas coming out the other end.
And YAY for the job! You will be the cutest person working there. Because I have checked out all the associates already.

I'm so happy for you, Jen. I hope one pompous prick was trying to blackball you during the hiring discussion (itimidated by your smarts and looks, of course) and now he'll hear about what an idiot he was every morning at the water cooler as you make your way to the top, and then surpass him--or does that only happen in the movies? :) Seriously, it's that firm's lucky day--not yours.
