I Hate Halloween
I really do.*
Figuring out what to wear to a party is already painful. But a costume? Fugheddaboudit. And girls have this added pressure of having to look cute in whatever ridiculous get-up they choose.
And! Half the time I don't recognize even my friends in their costumes and they think I'm either crazy or snubbing them. And! If I meet someone for the first time on Halloween, later I don't recognize them in street clothes, and again I am either crazy or a snubber.
So in a few hours I guess I'll put on my hard hat and toolbelt and CalTrans orange vest and head out to get my freak on with people I a) don't realize I know or b) later will forget because gosh! Halloween is so fun!
Ugh. At least there will be candy. And booze.
*Yes, I realize I am a party pooper and kind of lame.

That construction outfit sounds pretty spirited, Jen. And potentially hott! (I assume you won't be wearing anything under the vest, besides a bikini top, and you'll have an octagonal sign that reads GO and FAST? Am I assuming too much here?) Sounds like poopy pants might have a good time despite herself...

PS Can you remind me what's wrong with snubbing people and acting crazy?

ugh - i hate halloween. it was fun when i was a kid, but even then i was never one of those kids who took it really seriously and had to have my costume planned out WEEKS in advance. i'd be the kid two days before going "hm, what's in mom's closet that i can wear?" in my adulthood, i prefer to buy candy for myself and treat it like any other night.

Don't be silly, you're absolutely right, and all reasonable people feel the same way.
I like the costume, though.

Must be genetic, cuz I don't care about Halloween either.

I absolutely love Halloween. A great deal of the fun is coming up with the right costume. I started making my costumes years ago. Of course, I guess it helps to live close enough to SF to head over to the Castro. I stopped going when things began to get violent there but back in the day, it was one of the best parties all year. Heck, it was even better than NYE. Then again NYE is one of the two amateur nights during the year.
Bottom line, hope you had fun.

I hate Halloween too. I don't like costumes, and I never have enough of an imagination to come up with a creative one. But I hope that the party was fun!

I hate Halloween. Well, at least dressing up for Halloween. Madison is always "ground zero" for Halloween celebrations (only 450 arrested this weekend!), so the parties were really, really fun. But it was always difficult figuring out something to wear. Plus, most costumes ended up being woefully skimpy in the face of Wisconsin fall temperatures.
I had a friend go as a rejection letter during her 2L year. She wore a sandwich board with a mock rejection letter on the front, and about 30 letters taped on the back. It was a big hit.

*sigh* What is up with all the Halloween haters? Obviously you all need to spend a Halloween with me to see what it's all about. Also if you are stuck for a costume idea, let me know. I am one of those creative types.

Found you by searching for "i hate halloween" on google.
I agree, I hate Halloween. Stay strong in your resistance!
Sincerely,
A fellow kind-of-lame party pooper :-)

A year later, and yet another Halloween Hater. I also found you by searching for "i hate halloween" on Google. Thanks for reminding me that I am not alone in this feeling!

I also discovered this by typing 'i hate halloween' into google. It's good to see im not alone in the hating of it. The bastard managment at my work thought it would be a great idea if we all dressed up. Yeah, as if i havent got enough to think about without having to hire/buy a costume i can't afford, or make one and look like a complete and total twat. Yep i definatley wish halloween didnt exist.

excuse for girls to dress like whores...
Totally agree on this point. My gf is basically going as a slutty . Originally I thought "cool, my gf is gonna dress like a slutty ". Then I realized I probably won't be the only one thinking that at the party/club she's going to.
So now I've dropped cash on a costume I'll use only once and will now have to fake enjoying a night out with her and her other friends dressed as slutty .

oops, HTML tags were removed from my post above, wherever 'slutty' is, it should read
slutty (insert random costume name)
