Forgive the Law-Related Post, But...
But Anne is so right! The correct spelling of "ho" was decided definitively (I know, it's dicta, but close enough) in United States v. Murphy, 406 F.3d 857 at 859 n.1. To wit:
The trial transcript quotes Ms. Hayden as saying Murphy called her a snitch bitch "hoe." A "hoe," of course, is a tool used for weeding and gardening. We think the court reporter, unfamiliar with rap music (perhaps thankfully so), misunderstood Hayden's response. We have taken the liberty of changing "hoe" to "ho," a staple of rap music vernacular as, for example, when Ludacris raps "You doin' ho activities with ho tendencies."
In other law-related news, the woman whose case I was working on for my asylum clinic was granted asylum! How rockin' is that?!
And also, can I tell you how much I love my Law of Art class? I get to read about the art of the heist, Nazi looting, and last Friday I got to see one of the largest lending collections of modern art in the world. TWELVE Basquiats! And p.s. Gregory Crewdson? Some of the freakiest stuff I have ever seen.

Congrats on the asylum!
The discussion the proper spelling of ho is quite hilarious. It is possible that the court reporter had been listening to De La Soul's "Jenifa Taught Me." It contains that classic line, "She was known as a garden tool."

That is the best thing ever. I have had a minor obsession with the proper spelling and usage of the word "ho" ever since I started working in reality. I even wrote to an advice column (the Vine) to confirm the correct plural form ("hos") after having many fights with coworkers.
Also, I am SO JEALOUS of your Law of Art class. Even though "Law School Confidential" currently has me in despair about having any future at all, law school or not. ;)

Yes, Congratulations! I'll raise my glass to you.
I too am extremely jelous of the Law of Art class. I bet it's very strange - so many gray areas. The art world is usually very averse to using contracts, etc - but people are always getting ripped off.

I read that US News story a few weeks ago and thought of you and that class. Such a cool class.
But, hey. Let's hear it for entertaining court decisions! Not only is that a great quote, it's from my favorite circuit. :)

Yay for the asylum! It's always nice when hard work pays off.
Law of art sounds like fun. Too bad I can't make it really relate to ed psych, otherwise I'd be really tempted to take it. Well, I'm also scared of law school classes, so that's another reason not to take it.

"Art & the Law" was one of my favorite courses in grad school (Arts Administration). I still have my "Law of Art" book because I found it so dang interesting. Because I'm a big geek.
